On March 21, 2012 Peggy Fleming visited the production facilities of San Diego based Kontron America, Inc., a sister company of Kontron Germany.
Kontron’s success story of a foreign company in the U.S. is impressive. Moreover, the company is an inspiring example of why and how it can make sense to keep production local and not outsource manufacturing overseas. While Tom Cantwell, Director of Logistics, is very aware of the main benefits of overseas production, he points out to Peggy Fleming that “reliable resources of skilled workers is priority for kontron. That alone is motivation enough to stay in the region”.
