The Korea WEST Programs (Work, English, Study, Travel), a joint venture between the U.S. State Department and the South Korean Ministry of Education, gives South Korea’s students the opportunity to study and intern in the US.
The German American Chamber of Commerce California (GACC California) is proud to be a designated sponsor for the WEST Plus Program which includes 2 months of language school, 10 months of internship and 1 month of travel.
- Discover and understand American culture and business life
- Improve English language skills
- Gain practical experience in the field of studies abroad
To participate in the program, Korea WEST Plus applicants must first undergo a screening process by the Korean Ministry of Education. Students then apply for sponsorship with GACC California. To be selected for sponsorship, applicants must have a good level of English, preferably already gained first practical experience in their field of study and demonstrate a high level of motivation as well as flexibility.
Once being selected by GACC California, an exciting phase starts during which each student gets an individual coordinator who leads them through the application process. Student and coordinator will work together closely and respectfully until a suitable host company is found. GACC California representatives will also be present during the Pre-departure Orientation in Seoul to meet the program participants in person before they finally arrive in the US to start their studies and training. This will be a chance for the students to not only meet us in person but to also ask some first questions. Also during their time in the US, GACC California will be the student’s’ first point of contact and will offer support and guidance.
