Students aging from first grade through college graced the 6th German Theater Festival and Competition in Pacific Beach, San Diego on May 4th, 2013. The Festival was presented by the American Association of Teachers of German and sponsored in part by the German American Chamber of Commerce California. Nine schools and universities from all over San Diego and even Tijuana, Mexico gave strong performances with many self-written and self-directed skits, songs and videos. The judging panel consisting of Frank Duscha (German Language Consultant of the German Government), Heidi Williams (Director of the German American Societies, San Diego), Laila SchneiderGossens (Program Development Director of the German American Chamber of Commerce California), Elke Riebeling (German Department, UCSD), Armina Kranz (Honorary Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany) and Julia Koch (Goethe Institute San Francisco) who evaluated the students’ acting skills and language proficiency in rating their performances.
